Bosses suck
Ever have a boss who can't deal with reality? Ever have a boss you want to just bitchslap back INTO the real world? My boss is 48 yrs old, and lived with her mommy till mommy died 2 yrs ago this month. I think it was more like a year ago this month, but others say it was 2. I can't believe I have known her that long though. She mopes around the house, doesn't take trips, can't remember from one minute to the next what she has told someone. She borrows money and doesn't pay it back, yeah, she owes me too. I loaned her $179 last February, and she still owes me $59 of it.
She is afraid to make waves at work anymore, afraid of getting fired if she fights for what stuff we need here to do our jobs right. I have heard from more than one person that if you get on her bad side, she will call dispatch and drop you to the bottom of the board, something that not only she shouldn't do but dispatch shouldn't LET her do, so I have to blame both for that part.
The railroad is in "protect your year end bonus" mode right now, they're trying to cut year end costs by deadheading crews on Amtrak, and of course this cuts us out of runs we could be taking. This in turn costs us money we can't afford to lose. How do they expect anyone to pay bills on paychecks this bad? This railroad is something else. What a bunch of crooks. What gets me is they make money in spite of themselves. Some managers get 300-400k bonuses PER QUARTER. That's just ridiculous. Some of them have never even run trains before.
Well, enough about work and bosses.
Read yesterday that the guy who shot the state capital guard in Springfield IL while I was there (in Springfield, not at the capital) was sent away to a mental facility to be cured so he could stand trial for murder. He was declared unfit for trial. What a crock. Fine system we have isn't it? Well of course he's unfit, he killed someone didn't he? But to say he's too mental to stand trial, that's ridiculous.
I love how Ron White talks about the death penalty. It's true, we have gone overboard in protecting criminals. I have gone almost 2 yrs not being able to afford even basic cable TV, but federal mandates say prisons must have cable TV for the prisoners? What's up with that? Since when should we coddle criminals? Ron says, he hates groups that get together to try to save someone from execution because the inmate is too crazy to know we're killin him....well yeah!!....and your point is? If he's too crazy to know we're killing him, and it makes me feel better that he's no longer a threat to society, what are we arguing about? What did this one criminal do? Oh, he rolls his shit into little balls and eats crayons. Fine, I'll feed him for the rest of his life. And what did this criminal do? Oh he kills productive members of our society. Well he shoulda rolled his shit into little balls and ate crayons......because the penalty is MUCH LESS SEVERE!!
